Therapist - Louise Harris

A BACP Registered Member (MBACP)

Prior to working solely online (from March 2020), I have worked in Children Centres, an addiction rehabilitation house, a practice in Royal Tunbridge Wells, and Rochester in Kent. I have also had practices in Harley Street and Liverpool Street, London. Since 2016 I have worked via an online platform as an addition to my practices.

I work with a wide range of issues and find it's better for your wellbeing if you are not directed. The core of my practice is that I empathise and provide unconditional acceptance.

The client-counsellor relationship is vitally important. Many studies show that this is a major factor in a client's autonomy. You are the key to knowing whether a counsellor is right for you.

I draw on knowledge of various approaches to help reduce your psychological distress and enhance well-being. The core theory I draw on is person-centred, but I also bring in elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Also, Transactional Analysis, psychodynamic and creative aspects, including guided visualisations.

What I can help with

Abuse, Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Asperger syndrome, Bereavement, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, Life coaching, Loss, Men's issues, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues.

I am a health advocate and believe that a healthy mind and body are both vital to our positive wellbeing. It is scientifically proven that our stomach also acts as our second brain, so feeding ourselves with the right fuel and being active in varied ways is important for us psychologically and physically.

I have extensive knowledge of nutrition through my passion and I exercise and practice mindfulness. My curiosity and thirst for knowledge has also led me to currently studying an MSc in Psychology.
